The History of Paper and its Relevancy in The Modern World
An Overview of Paper' Historic, and Present Relevancy
RELEVANCY OF PAPER
BEFORE PAPER
Before the discovery of paper, verbal communication was the only way to share information. The use of papers made this easier by keeping the written information in its original form until the recipient had it. The achievement of technology and its deployment to various parts of the globe led to massive improvements in paper relevancy (Hunter, 1978).
PAPER OPPORTUNITIES
The paper use led to improved development of paper industries-related sectors and increased the expansion to wider regions. One industry was the spread of information through the book printing development of printing presses. These were based not only on one skill set but also on merging various aspects that could bring people of various assignments together. Notably, there were the economic aspects as authors earned, publishers sold books, and people got the enlightenment they have today. It is prudent to say that paper was a key pillar in opening floodgates of activities in various sectors. It is, therefore, relevant in ensuring various aspects of society are merged for better understanding.
QUESTIONING THE NEED FOR PAPER
Arising concerns over the recent aspects of business and online work leave a question on why offices are no longer necessary (Gordon, 1990). A majority are of the idea that offices are currently obsolete. This could be true, but the impending physicality of office work runs on papers. Sharing a document for perusal could be an easier option where technology is unavailable. This indicates that papers would still be relevant in the coming years. The catch is that not all regions and situations may call for computers and electronic forms of documentation. This leaves paper as a highly relevant document for various aspects of our lives.
BENEFITS OF NOT USING PAPER
The use of papers means logging trees and reducing forest coverage. It leads to an imbalance of atmospheric temperature, which plays a significant role in climates. The increasing high temperature dries up rivers' sources o water and leads to an imbalance in the ecosystem. The use of tree logs for carbon-based energy is an extended consideration but points to the same issues. With the benefits accruing from paper, the consequences should be handled to ensure the world is a better place for habitation.
